Here’s what TurntableLab said- “Vin Sol (along with Skin & Bones) caught me off guard with this one. “Countdown” is a super-crisp house track with a great vocal sample and a kit of Daft Punk disco filters. It really sounds like it could have come out in the early 90s (especially with those awesome vocals, please tell me they’re original not sampled). Breaking through the tackles of one hit wonder linebackers, “Main Line,” is a great companion b-side with some sinister electro-house that reminds of late nineties french house a la I:Cube. Recommended. check out what they have to say about themselves: In the summer of 2009 DJ/producer Vin Sol joined forces with production duo Skin & Bones to form CALiGULA. Not content with the current state of electronic music, the group set forth on a sonic journey fueled by a shared Utopian vision of dance music at its finest. They successfully weave together a cohesive tapestry of fierce sample-based grooves that imbue an unabashedly hedonistic vibe. The two production entities united offer you a refreshingly unique yet breathtakingly beautiful depiction of dance music as they see it. Join them in their quest. Let CALiGULA take hold of your soul!” iTunes TurntableLab
Here’s a House song I did a about a month ago before I headed East. I put it up on the ole’ myspace and gave a different name and never posted it for download. It’s a good tension builder in DJ sets. I couldn’t help myself flippin that sample. Enjoy and more to come The Hand That Speaks
I got into NY on Wednesday morning after an entire night of delays, with bare bones studio setup in my luggage. Friday night I opened up for the Chromeo homies at Webster Hall in NYC and Kingdom closed the night out. Shout out to Nicky Digital! for the flicks.
